Laos’ trade value exceeds 1.2 bln USD in June

VIENTIANE, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Laos’ imports and exports amounted to 1.227 billion U.S. dollars in June, according to the latest figures from the Lao Trade Portal website.
The value of exports in June was recorded at 547 million dollars and imports at 680 million dollars, resulting in a trade deficit of about 133 million dollars, the data showed.
Laos’ main export products included salt, mixed gold, paper, rubber, copper ore, wasted wood, sugar, cassava flour, banana and cassava.
The country’s main imports included diesel, land vehicles, mechanical equipment, electrical appliances and equipment, steel and steel products, finished chemical products, plastic products, gasoline, vehicle spare parts and aluminum products.
China, Vietnam and Thailand are among leading export destinations for Lao products. Meanwhile, main importing countries of Lao products include China, Thailand and Vietnam. ■
